Counseling Service, Standard Fees & Insurance

Some people are reluctant to seek out counseling when they have problems, and believe that strong and healthy people should be able to resolve all their issues on their own.  Others believe that talking with a counselor is about the same as talking with a good friend. But there are many good reasons for seeing a counselor when life becomes especially difficult...

Counseling is confidential

When you talk with a friend or family member, you may run the risk of having your most vulnerable secrets shared with others. But with few exceptions, a counselor is legally required to keep what that happens in your sessions confidential. The exceptions to this requirement are:

  • If you represent a threat to yourself or someone else, the counselor must involve whoever needs to be involved to prevent the threatened harm.
  • If the counselor finds out about child abuse that is occurring or has occurred in the past (even if it happened many years ago), the counselor is required to report that abuse to the authorities.
  • If you are under 15 years old, the counselor may need to share some things about your therapy with your parents.

Services / Modalities

Our services provide Pastoral Counseling and Pastoral non-Christian counseling in the Charlotte Metropolitan area. We offer counseling in a variety of formats for various needs/groupings of people. Following are just a few examples of topics that can be addressed in various modalities: Individual Counseling with Adults / Couples Counseling / Group Counseling /Anger Problems / Anxiety / Communication / Conflict Resolution / Depression / Grief and Loss / Life Coaching / Marital Problems / Premarital Counseling / Relationship Counseling / Religious and Spiritual Issues / Separation and Divorce and Stress Management.

There are many approaches to counseling, but decades of research shows that the most important elements in predicting success are: the relationship between the client and the counselor, and the ability and willingness of the client to participate fully in the counseling process. So we will frequently ask you for feedback about how well counseling is working for you, and how satisfied you are with our relationship. We work for you.  There may be very good reasons why you are inhibited from participating fully in counseling. We will investigate and address those issues directly.

"Pastoral Counseling in the Comfort of Your Home"

What makes our service unique?

You have the option of receiving services in our offices or in the comfort of your home.

Christ-Centered-Counseling (Pastoral Christian Counseling Model)

Christ-Centered-Counseling focuses on a few main principles that are different from traditional counseling. It focuses on the care of the whole person as it is also sometimes named “soul-care”, and maintains the values taught in the bible. The aim of Christ-Centered-Counseling is to help people regain a sense of hope for their life that is found in Jesus Christ. Faith-based counseling has been increasingly sought after in recent years. When people seek counseling, people are open to the idea of having their lives transformed and changed in a positive way. People are searching for answers in the midst of pain and suffering that is experienced in life and to obtain meaning for their life. Christ-Centered-Counseling believes that at the core of what they do is to help others achieve a better understanding of who they are. People become aware of the issues in their lives that have caused them suffering but also come to know the immense worth and value they have as a person.

Family Systems Counseling (Pastoral non-Christian Counseling Model)

Family systems therapy draws on systems thinking to view the family as an emotional unit. When applied to families, systems thinking - evaluating the parts of a system in relation to the whole - suggests that an individual’s behavior is informed by and inseparable from the functioning of his or her family of origin.

Family Systems Counseling Approaches

Many forms of family therapy /counseling are based on family systems theory. Family systems approaches generally fall under the categories of structural, strategic, and intergenerational:

  • Structural family counseling
  • Strategic family counseling
  • Intergenerational family counseling

Making Counseling Affordable

Cost may be an important factor for you in choosing a counselor, particularly if you are paying out of your own pocket. I encourage you to ask questions or bring up any concerns you have about the cost of counseling. It is important both that you do not cause yourself undue financial stress by paying for counseling, and also that you feel you are receiving value for your investment. We offer sliding scale fees. Such fees are thereby reduced for those who have lower incomes, or alternatively, less money to spare after their personal expenses, regardless of income.

Counseling Service & Insurance

An initial assessment with a Pastoral Counselor is approximately 90 minutes in length and includes time to complete paperwork and

an interview. Session length thereafter is 45-50 minutes in length depending upon the session content or type of counseling session.

Temperament Testing will be discussed between you and your counselor. If you and your counselor decide to pursue testing, fees for temperament testing vary depending upon testing length of time to administer and evaluate.

There is cancellation policy of 24 hours’ notice, as we have reserved your time specifically for you. This gives us an opportunity to fill the time, if possible, and to plan our schedule.

All counseling services are confidential and will not be shared with a third party. Any threat of physical or bodily harm to yourself or others will be reported to the proper authorities.

We do not accept insurance, and therefore we do not have to submit  a mental health diagnosis of our clients in order to get paid. This benefits you in that we can focus on your goals and desired changes rather than spending time analyzing how your symptoms fit into diagnostic categories.  It also ensures that your employer has no access to any information from me (unless you want me to provide information to them). We also have no ties to the military. If you are a member of the military, We are under no obligation to share any information about your counseling with anyone (unless you want us to).

Payment Methods: We accept cash, money orders, Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express. Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise negotiated.
